Back with a banger, Jillian Rose BANKS combines with BJ Burton and Hudson Mohawke on Gimme – an enticing introduction to her as-yet-undetailed third full-length effort. The Californian’s irreproachable vocal performance shines in a stainless, steely co-production which picks up more or less precisely where The Altar left off, as she repeatedly demands: “Gimme, gimme what I want/ What I deserve.” It’s propulsive, assertive, self-assured stuff from the heroine we need, but don’t necessarily deserve.
