Bat For Lashes, Feel For You.

If nominally reminiscent of a certain Chaka Khan track, musically, Bat For Lashes’ opalescent latest – Feel For You – takes its cues from more early ’80s mainstays (coruscating guitars recall A Flock of Seagulls’ I Ran and David Bowie’s Let’s Dance, for instance), as well as the disconcertingly tropic gelidity of The Knife’s Silent Shout. Lyrically, it may not be Natasha Khan’s most ornate work to date, comprising no more than two recurring lines (“I love you/ I feel for you”), but as her vocal brings back reminiscences of songs sung by Róisín Murphy circa Things to Make and Do, it more than makes do and heightens anticipation for her forthcoming Lost Girls full-length.

Lost Girls is available from September 6th via AWAL Recordings.
