First Transmission: Bill Waters, New Car.

Comparing rising NYC songsmith Bill Waters to the critically acclaimed likes of Mac DeMarco, Christopher Owens and so on, on the basis of one song and one song only, may seem hyperbolic at best. But when that one song is New Car, hyperbole’s better left by the roadside anways, as Waters sounds as though he’s done umpteen laps of Owens’ Hellhole Ratrace already, such is the compositional mastery on show. Comprising glimmering slide guitars suggestive of Max Kakacek, knowingly louche vocals and a perhaps somewhat tongue-in-cheek whistled segment, it makes for quite the introduction, so buckle up below…

New Car is lifted from Bill Waters’ forthcoming Humid EP, which is available from November 17th via Forged Artifacts.
