Blue Hawaii, Versus Game.

“Feels like what everybody’s searching for” sings Raphaelle Standell come the chorus of Blue Hawaii’s Versus Game – a second play from their forthcoming sophomore full-length, Tenderness. And while I may be pretty explicitly recontextualising the original text here (her response, “someone who’ll always keep them wanting more”), you’d be hard pushed to find anyone unwilling to let this one in. For Alexander Kerby’s production – redolent in places of a certain, weekend-friendly Whigfield number – brings colour and rapture likewise to the week, a Jamie xx-esque shuffle fluffed up with ecstatic Balearic builds and Standell’s complementarily horizontal, zoned-out guitars. Best hone your hunt for weekend-defining floor-fillers in on the below, therefore…

Tenderness is available from October 6th via Arbutus Records, while Blue Hawaii play The Pickle Factory on November 21st.
