First Transmission: Coy Haste, Outer Phases.

If you’ve ever had the privilege of catching Dan Snaith’s Caribou live, then you’ll likely have applauded the tendrillar limbs of rhythmist-in-chief Brad Weber. Lesser known, if no less worthy of commendation of course, is his collaborative Pick a Piper venture; a project which has witnessed him enlist the likes of John Schmersal and Raphaelle Standell – among many another – to create incredibly dynamic, commensurately irregular sonic constructions. And even further removed from common knowledge is his Coy Haste pseudonym, under which the Ontarian sticks out ‘rhythmic yet ambient’ techno along the lines of Outer Phases: the title track to a forthcoming four-track release, it’s a slow-building, six-and-a-half-minute mini-opus that serves as a tantalising appetiser of what’s to come next month, and it’s now served right up below…

Outer Phases is available from October 2nd via Coy Haste’s Bandcamp.
