Suprawoofer, The Field.

Suprawoofer, The Field.

Having newly reappeared from the industrial wilds of Berlin, Stockholm-born Axel Willner looks set to continue with his diligent entrancement of many a nation with forthcoming fourth, Cupid’s Head – a dizzying mix of urbanised ambient and urban microhouse tailored to early mornings, later nights and noons alike. Having of course masqueraded as The Field for now going on a decade, Willner has taken his time to refine his craft although in the wake of 2011′s Looping State Of Mind, Axel looks set to finally takeoff with his ambitious latest, an instant highlight of which is its immersive title track.

Clocking in at a comparatively modest smidgen over six minutes, and thus the record’s shortest instance by some distance, it witnesses Willner cram the experience of long-forgotten years into a steady build of insistent ticks, propulsive grooves and an abundance of bass woof that, if likely to arouse the canine denizens of his native German state, will doubtless keep their owners occupied for quite some while to come…

Cupid’s Head is expected September 30th on Kompakt.
