Four Tet, Planet.

If Kieran Hebden – aka Four Tet – ‘still get[s] such a rush when [he hears his] track on the radio’, then that exact same sensation is felt totally mutually as and whenever his silence is broken. Maybe predictably therefore, his latest – Planet, below – has as much natural gravitational attraction to it as Saturn, Bell Laboratory-worthy chimes slowly yet surely eclipsed by climactic Asiatic twangs and sultry vocal samples across seven-plus minutes of sprawling, celestial splendour. That it’ll latterly disintegrate into ambient inertia tethers the track perfectly to its intergalactic, planetary appellation, but ultimately, it stands as a rather timely reminder that there remains ample beauty to the ‘The Blue Marble’ after all…
