Four Tet, Teenage Birdsong.

Wholly compelling though Kieran Hebden’s full-length efforts can so often prove, his ready willingness to condense their essence down into glorious standalone Four Tet singles is similarly winsome. And the relevantly vernal Teenage Birdsong is certainly no exception: awash with matutinal optimism, it swells, surges and subdues in all the right spots; it ticks over, rhythmically, with idiosyncratic bits and pieces coming and going throughout; it leaves you, ultimately, yearning for repeat plays, as well as the opportunity to bask in the track live.

Teenage Birdsong is available now via Hebden’s Text Records, while Four Tet plays Alexandra Palace on May 8th and 9th.
