Gone Feral, Holden.

Gone Feral, Holden.

It now feels strangely apt that the last time we ran into James Holden should’ve been among the whizzing of unhinged gizmos and airborne air hockey pucks of Butlins, Minehead not least as Gone Feral sounds more like an entire arcade going irreparably mental in a most disharmonious unison. The lead single from Holden’s forthcoming Border Community-released full-length The Inheritors, it’s a wild mix of ominous bass tones, skittering outbursts of jazzy rhythm and analog flatulence that only plunges deeper into the pits of derangement as it unravels like coiled lobes gradually undone over six minutes. And it makes for a maddeningly, almost excessively brilliant listen.

The Inheritors is anticipated June 17th.
