Grimes, Delete Forever.

Stopping short of commenting on her consistently peculiar social media posts or Elon Musk’s questionable EDM questing, the latest track to surface from Grimes’ forthcoming Miss Anthropocene full-length – entitled Delete Forever – is fairly out-there, even by Claire Boucher’s current standards. Inspired by what she perceives as an “opioid epidemic” and written on the night LiL PEEP died, there are, periodically, callbacks to Wonderwall, Old Town Road and Kacey Musgraves’ Slow Burn, if fewer to Patsy Cline – as Boucher ostensibly intended, interspersed with lyrics concerning “white lines on a mirror,” and whatnot. A weird one then, although then again, I suppose that sort of goes without saying by this stage…

Miss Anthropocene is available from February 21st via 4AD.
