Another Prime Cut, Doug Keith.

Another Prime Cut, Doug Keith.

Having previously been treated to the J Mascis-featuring Pure Gold In The 70’s – and make no mistake, those few moments proved a scintillating, 24-Carat treat without question – Sharon Van Etten’s touring guitarist Doug Keith cuts a second from his forthcoming, self-released full-length, Pony, in the altogether more rustic shape of Harvest Home. Composed of tumbleweedy acoustics and rumbling drums, its comparatively pared-back aesthetic allows for Keith’s bristly brogue to worm its way right to the very fore. And, to “quote, unquote” the man himself, his “porcelain pride is shown”, not least during a tremorous organ solo that melts a middle segment like prime rump on the poshest of tongues.

Pony is anticipated February 10th via Keith’s very own The Village Label.
