Misnomered though the moniker may be, the enigmatic musicien operating as Hello Paris instead hailing from Lanhouarneau in Brittany, he makes no further mistakes with the jingly, jangly (and thereby suitably matutinal) In Between Us. Reminiscent more of much of the Captured Tracks catalogue (Chris Cohen, Craft Spells, etc.) – as well as the analogous likes of Crystal Stilts, Hibou, and The Radio Dept. – than it is Dylan, it makes for a most giddying salut to a dream-pop upstart tangled up in bluish longing. And while he may exasperatedly reiterate: “I can’t explain myself,” there is an extremely lucid allure to this shimmering gem.
