A far cry from Joanne, and further still from her lachrymose contributions to the latest A Star Is Born reboot, Stupid Love marks a return to Lady Gaga’s unabashedly flamboyant earlier releases. Fully loaded with daft, hefty electro bumps and bruised confessions (“All I ever wanted was love,” and the like), is it “stupid”? Probably. Certainly not as farcical as the bootleg-like, thoroughly ludicrous artwork which accompanies this Ed Banger-borrowing romp, but life – and Lady Gaga – is best enjoyed when not taken excessively seriously, anyway.
