That Look Vibrant’s Numb Your Spirit is so reminiscent of those most sprightly bits and pieces from fellow Montréal lot Malajube’s sublime Trompe-l’œil ensures they step off on the right foot; that at times, it also sounds not dissimilar to, for instance, Pâte filo (from that aforementioned record) being filtered through the prismatic majesty of Panda Bear’s Person Pitch makes it all the more appealing still. For with its wanton disregard for beats in bars – in spite of brittle rhythmic battery being its absolute fulcrum – it makes for a startling listen that’s brimming with as many, if not more ideas than most records; Trompe-l’œil notwithstanding, needless to say.
