The musical produce of Delaware pop troop FIANCÉ was measuredly eked out over the excruciatingly slow buildup to summer proper which, with the benefit of hindsight, was an astute manoeuvre not least because theirs is a heady blend of blithe vocal delivery, lithe guitar line and impressionistic rhythm that’s right at home among the sweltering climes of this particular season. And so as we at long last emerge from an interminable winter to bathe in this immeasurable warmth, it feels pretty fitting that they should further enlighten with a track entitled Summer Tunnels: built from that same formula, it’s just about their most carefree effort thus far, lyrics of love growing organically entwined with the bristly vigour of Devendra Banhart and squiggly instrumentation that squirms like now verdant undergrowth. Growing into themselves and fortifying the rapport all the while, the time is surely now to marry into FIANCÉ.
