Mothers, Pink.

Forged from much the same post-punky bits and pieces as Blame Kit before it, Mothers’ Pink – cut from their forthcoming sophomore full-length, Render Another Ugly Method – serves as further evidence that Kristine Leschper & Co. are no longer the band that brought us When You Walk a Long Distance You Are Tired. And while this should be mourned, if only for a moment, their readiness to so progressively reinvent themselves is to be acclaimed and commended, because Pink – evocative, vocally, of Angel Olsen, and musically of FRIGS – proves a vibrant, biting listen, the like of which few would have foreseen on the basis of their collective previous. It leaves them teetering on the verge of birthing another real beauty, and that due date can’t now come soon enough…

Render Another Ugly Method is available from September 7th via ANTI- Records.
