On the Horizon: All Portland Energies Renewed, Sama Dams.

I know little, to nothing of Portland’s intricate political subplots although I’ve been led by the city’s ostensibly ‘Most Awesome Weekly Newspaper’, the Portland Mercury, to believe that Sama Dams cunningly re-interpolated the space in lead singer Sam Adams’ name so as to differentiate he and his bristly vocal from their onetime mayor and his presumably barbed false promises. Though that of which I can faithfully reassure is that No Vengeance – the latest full-length effort from the Oregon trio to incidentally also include Adams’ sister Lisa – is a work of instant appeal for which you’d doubtless rush down the polling station to deliver staunch votes of confidence if only you could. And as delayed preliminary introductions go, Bonneville Power Administration is about as forceful a handshake as you could care to imagine: inspired by ‘a federal agency based in the Pacific Northwest’ specialising in renewable energy sources, the song itself is a repeatedly inspirational listen with Adams’ erratic vocal frequently falling down syncopated grooves where it can there plash and flounder in spates of crashing cymbal. And ultimately, you’d best untap the boundless potential of Sama Dams below, for No Vengeance is as rousing a collection as you could hope for of a directionless Tuesday…
