On the Horizon: Blistering Minimalism, Prince Innocence.

For a country with relatively minimal amounts of jagged coastline, Canada’s certainly producing some invigoratingly edgy music at the minute. In fact, I’d go so far as to throw hyperbole to the wind and suggest them there Canucks are, contemporarily speaking, just about the most refreshing artists actively out there. And Prince Innocence – the Toronto/ Montréal pairing comprising Talvi Faustmann and Josh McIntyre – go some way to becoming the reigning monarch of our hearts. ‘Rama still prevails, though Golden Hour runs ‘em close. The inevitable parallel, however, will perhaps always be compatriots Purity Ring though as Faustmann initially coos of her apathetic “lack of remorse” atop louche pawn store synths, it’s their casual indifference which swiftly becomes their calling card. And it’s one you’ll want to ring ’til your fingers numb…
