The internet’s been AMOK with all things Atoms For Peace this past week or so, though more than one of those more fleeting of thoughts ought to be spared for Brooklyn duo Beacon, who are to release their eagerly awaited début full-length April 29th. Entitled The Ways We Separate, it witnesses the pairing comprising Thomas Mullarney and Jacob Gossett continuing to turn the mirror upon themselves to gaze and scrutinise inwardly. Yes, it’s a breakup album in kind though so too is it an appraisal of fragmented personality. And there’s plenty of that even within faintly sprightly album opener, Bring You Back: drawing upon that wistful introversion of Give Up, Melody A.M. and other such innately early morning musics, it’s a work of splintered beauty caught between soaring expansion and a subdued sense of seclusion, which has in turn been pieced together absolutely immaculately. And it makes for something flawless. Absolutely flawless.
The Ways We Separate is anticipated April on Ghostly International.
