On the Horizon: Ditching the Guilt; Going for Pleasure. kigo.

Another day goes by in the comparatively quiet wake of that tempestuous last splash made by the impromptu release of m b v and appositely, yet another exemplary young shoegaze practitioner springs to mind. This time it’s the turn of Brisbane’s kigo who, having stomped out guilt a couple weeks back, has been picking up some noteworthy plaudits both this side of the world and that. The rambunctious solo endeavour of a kid called D.P. Pearce, there’s that hazy aspect to The Radio Dept.’s 2003 classic Lesser Matters here refracted through the pedalboard configuration of Kevin Shields when Only Shallow was first fished out, and spattered with the lo-fi quality of MacBook speakers. And with an EP in the pipeline, it makes for a pretty enticing introduction…
