I’ll come clean as this latest single from Oslo trio Bendik and admit that this time half an hour or so ago, I’d yet to hear or indeed know anything of the Norwegian troop. Though to go against the grain of absolute ignorance, below streams the positively essential Jeg tror det blir bra igjen which has been stuck on an interminable loop over the past thirty or so. Roughly translating to ‘I think it will be good again’, to brand it good is to do it a grotesque disservice as it’s nigh on the most quintessentially clean-cut, acutely melodramatic pop song I’ve heard thus far this year and although quite rightly delivered in their native Norwegian, it’s one to transcend cultural difference and hurdle the inevitable language barrier as though it were a puny, monochromic rock dotting the luminous red and blue-brick road to surefire success. So great.
