On the Horizon: Piecing the Child Inside Back Together Again, My Broken Frame.

As were Luke Steele’s The Sleepy Jackson endeavours, the musical œuvre of Parisian Guillaume Léglise’s My Broken Frame project sounds immediately evocative of a man’s immortal childlike pleasures recomposed in quintessentially jejune song format. Having spent his formative years cocooned in the ’80s, Léglise sheds a luminous brilliance on the twilight balladry renowned of the decade during Relief – a stomping synth-pop chanson that, though its verse may be perfumed with a springtime freshness, comes with a chorus that’s brusquely invigorating as an unanticipated winter. Which, given the grim disposition of the current British clime, makes for a pretty apposite listen right around now…
