Synths can’t swim, though if they could they’d surely drift with the blithe, aqueous guile of this from South London producer Vodou. Waved – down as an instrumental demo – is awash with muffled brass samples, subtle glints of electronica, and deep, murky vocals of unintelligible soul, its gills filled with a vivacious freshness. It’s where trip meets hip in the unfathomable depths of the genre prefix, and one which comes up smelling of something rosier than a pearly reef.
