On the Horizon: Thawing Out, treasureseason.

On the Horizon: Thawing Out, treasureseason.

All creative outpour from The Concretes appears to have all but frozen up indefinitely, which is something of an unnatural catastrophe from the figurative hunk of ice upon which we’re sat quivering this afternoon. However here to thaw out that chilly bittersweetness capable of incurring the most penetrative of toothaches are treasureseason, a Scandi/ UK duo formed in San Fran though since relocated to these fair, and today fairly monochromic isles. Bicycle, outed only hours ago, isn’t built to trundle across such gloomy terrain however: a luminescent, stargaze-y piece of insouciant innovation, it recalls much of the eponymous début from Victoria Bergsman et al., not least vocally. Heavily manipulated and snowed in under blankets of heavy reverb, these serve as the slew of glacé cherries topping what are some most succulent sounds inspired by The City, even if they may befit the London of today about as well as a lurid Bojo bike might Islington. Still no sign of the sodding things round these parts, though this one effortlessly quells these unabating frustrations…
