Given her pedigree as head rhythmist of both Hot Chip and NZCA Lines, it should come as little, to no surprise to find that Sarah Jones – as Pillow Person – has quite the knack for carving out superlatively off-kilter alt. pop belters. Right from the word ‘go’, or Go Ahead, this was made unmistakably manifest; and her latest – entitled Kitchen – combines all the right kinds of ingredients to corroborate such bold claims once again: choppy, screwed verses; a crisp, saccharine chorus; an irresistible, but slightly discombobulating beat. And the outcome – perhaps improbably – computes in a way that nothing from the PC Music canon has as yet…
