First Transmission: Polo, Zeitgeist.

Contentious objectors will likely write off Zeitgeist – the equatorial latest from Leodensian trio Polo – as precisely that: unapologetically zeitgeisty. Yet whereas its Trinity Leeds-friendly BPM and excitedly twinkling synth lines do little to allay those sorts of scruples, there remains a rough readiness to this which ensures comparisons with Clean Bandit and the like – a perhaps still complimentary parallel in the auris interna of many – seem overzealous and underdone. Not that the same can be said of the song itself, for if Kat McHugh sings of “your body making statements” in this slightly husky, hugely impressive voice of hers, then when making such enticing, consciously produced introductions as this, there really are far worse songs that could be said to define the modern-day…

Polo play Birthdays on September 16th.
