Trondheim may be best known (if not exactly renowned) for metals of doom, glam and heavy varieties, although that could all be about to change, and radically, as You’ll Be Fine – the latest from Scandinavian nonconformists, Pom Poko – is out-there enough to reconstruct such preconceptions, honing international attentions in on the avant-garde four-piece in the process. Lyrically concerning – you guessed it – a breakup, Ragnhild Fangel Jamtveit confirming immediately: “It’s OK, you didn’t want my body anyway,” You’ll Be Fine is about as far removed from guessable breakup fodder as is feasible, Martin Miguel Almagro Tonne, Jonas Krøvel and Ola Djupvik conversely devising a track that at once recalls a more readily accessible Palm, by way of Zun Zun Egui-worthy wig-outs and BRAIDS’ defter touches.
