Having repeatedly proven themselves to be a steadfastly lo-fi pairing, SALES’ latest – the distinctively shiny, and decidedly evergreen ivy – marks something of a departure for the Floridian duo. For if not necessarily the most hi-fi few minutes you’ll hear this afternoon (for those surely belong to Arthur Beatrice), the twists and turns to this unprecedentedly slinky number more closely recall Blonde Redhead’s Misery Is a Butterfly than they do, say, Big Sis. However, with that said, ivy sounds eminently capable of becoming Lauren Morgan and Jordan Shih’s biggest hitter to date, its three minutes, sixteen hitting us for six time, and time again…
