SALES, Off and On.

Having first bought into Floridian duo SALES what now feels an innumerable number of years ago, it’s wonderfully rewarding to witness Lauren Morgan and Jordan Shih’s unyieldingly DIY approach carry them quite so far. And, while this will likely sound like hyped-up, press-released hyperbole, the diaphanous Off and On may well be their very best yet: evocative of Warpaint at their introspective best, with vestiges of guitar lines crafted by Romy Madley Croft echoing about within the trademarkedly austere production, there remains a “hometown[y]” charm to Morgan’s no-frills performance. Meaning that, while she “can’t” and/ or “won’t say the words,” the beguiling combination of her yearning vocal and its sombre musical accompaniment perhaps speaks greater volumes than she ever could “talkin’ face to face.” Best turn this one to ‘On’ below…
