Soleima, Low Life.

Striking just the right equilibrium between credibility and incredibly catchy pop songs is no mean feat, but it’s a balance that Copenhagen’s Soleima seems to have struck each and every time she’s stuck another number out into the great wide open. And Low Life, her high-flying latest, is certainly no exception as idiosyncratic production (courtesy of fellow Scandinavian Elias Näslin) immediately pricks ears, before the Dane’s calmative vocal proves exceptionally soothing as it sails on down the ol’ ear canal. And so, although there may be an increasing urge to “put the world on standby” year on year, sticking Low Life on makes it seem that bit better a place for all of three ephemeral minutes.

Low Life is available now via Parlophone Music Denmark.
