Equal parts early Björk and Billie Eilish, the expletive-laden latest from Copenhagen’s Soleima – STFU – marks quite the departure from the bubblegummy goodness of, for instance, No. 14 (2017). There remains a certain nonchalance, and the production is still quite incontrovertibly on-point, although there is newfound polish and punch; like Vaseline-lined knuckles. Quintessentially Scandinavian, if now with that bit more in common with Ninja Tune than Auto-Tune, it’s very much worth the “shout[ing] out loud” about.
