Worldwide Standstill, Arctic Monkeys.

Stop the world: there’s a new Arctic Monkeys track now roaming the www. Well, that’ll be the B-side to effortlessly eclipse forthcoming single Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?, that sounds not altogether dissimilar to a Joseph Mount recomposing of the similarly inquisitive Do I Wanna Know?, but y’know. Cue the hysteria, ‘n’ all.

Impishly entitled Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You, it sees Alex Turner’s mirthful lyrics filled with gleeful sleaze as he moves in mischievously: “Well I know that getting you alone isn’t easy to do/ But with the exception of you, I dislike everyone in the room/ And I don’t wanna lie, but I don’t wanna tell you the truth/ Get the sense that you’re on the move, and you’ll probably be leaving soon.” Though we’ll be sticking with ‘em for the foreseeable if they carry on in such red-blooded form, for sure.

Arctic Monkeys’ fifth studio full-length, entitled AM, is anticipated September 9th via Domino, while the simian Sheffielders play Earls Court this coming October.
