First Transmission: Superheart, Count On Me.

So directly redolent of Johnny Jewel’s Chromatics is Superheart’s low-riding début number, Count On Me, that it couldn’t be any better suited to a certain Nicolas Winding Refn neo-noir feature-length were it heard wafting out from the wound-down windows of a ’73 Chevrolet. Nevertheless, this one shouldn’t go down as simple derivation, because – simplistic though its composition, and so too its sentiment may be – the way in which it blossoms into a tentatively lovestruck ballad is, and is readily quantifiably, a truly striking joy to behold.
