The Go! Team, Mayday.

It would, needless to say, be grossly negligent for a site entitled Dots & Dashes not to feature The Go! Team’s Morse code-dependent Mayday: plucked from Ian Parton et al.’s forthcoming SEMICIRCLE full-length, it follows on from the comparably ebullient Semicircle Song and hears a series of insistent bleeps prelude an intro reminiscent of a decelerated take on Kill V. Maim by way of full-on, One Way Glass-style brass. Thenceforth, Parton sprinkles lavish sitar vibes, archetypally cheerleader-like choruses, and a magnetic breakdown redolent of Chicago’s Hypnotic Brass Ensemble into proceedings, to create a delectable potpourri seasoned with the revelatory verve of Thunder, Lightning, Strike. And, having seemingly hit upon that very same early vibrancy once again, there’s nothing distressing whatsoever so far as the Brightonians’ return may be concerned…

SEMICIRCLE is available from January 19th via Memphis Industries, while The Go! Team play the Electric Ballroom on February 15th.
