Bringing a polychromic, carnivalesque vibe to this otherwise monochromic, crappy Humpday are The Go! Team, whose comeback track – Semicircle Song – hears Ian Parton’s intercontinental lot take “the technicolour feel of a marching band into a more psychedelic place, reclaiming that sound from patriotic or sporty bullshit and harnessing its toughness and power.” And jeez, is it potent, Detroit teens doing their very finest Jackson 5 impressions atop a positively vibrant, if typically buoyant number reminiscent of their sublime début, Thunder, Lightning, Strike, but with auxiliary feel-good factor courtesy of steel pans and star sign recitations. A stellar return.

Semicircle Song is lifted from their forthcoming fifth studio full-length, SEMICIRCLE, which is available from January 19^th via Memphis Industries, while The Go! Team play the Electric Ballroom on February 15^th.
