If Love Leaks, the first to seep from TT (née Theresa Wayman, of Warpaint)’s début solo album LoveLaws, hinted at a so-called ‘break-up album’ being on the way, then I’ve Been Fine makes things unequivocally clear: a mournful “remember[ing of] all the times our bodies pressed together,” as Wayman repeatedly wails: “Why can’t you be next to me?” atop tremorous guitar lines and stultified bass, that’s exactly what we’re getting. And, without wanting to make too Schadenfreudian a slip, thank God for that, as these morose reflections on love not so much leaked as lost have very much found Wayman at her creative best.
