The Plot Thickens, PLOY.

For a duo to have first rekindled their unmistakably symbiotic working rapport just last year in an NYC Starbucks, it feels pretty fitting that this particular Hyattsville duo should now be bringing PLOY to the boil. “I was only gone for a minute when she told me: ‘Hold me’” they chime crystalline atop plush, if still minimalist cushions of muggy electronica, to engender a sweltering closeness that’s impressive as it is unprecedented within the recurrently constrictive genre parameters in which Gil Wojcik and Justin Victoria practise, but to which they’re seemingly never confined. For Young is a quietly pioneering affair, deep beats offsetting its effete vocal intonations which are slowly but surely impressed upon the pliable synthesis that thrives beneath. Equivalent to a transatlantic Delorean or a tranquillised Metronomy, the plot thickens…
