Vocally evocative of Jackson, Mississippi songsmith Dent May, while awash with lilting waves of buoyantly lo-fi, Tame Impala-like instrumentation, Honeymoons’ Trying suggests the emergent Bournemouth outfit may yet succeed where so many before them have failed, in terms of bringing something genuinely novel to (what they themselves deem) ‘sadly uplifting dream-pop’. For whereas their début number – Los Angeles – proved rather too doting a tribute to transatlantic counterparts such as Real Estate, etc., this latest track builds upon the thrillingly lithe Banff; albeit more upbeat, and bolstered with fuzzy reminiscences of fellow South Coasters Delays in their brisk pomp.
