Sharon Van Etten, Jupiter 4.

From her forthcoming Remind Me Tomorrow full-length, Sharon Van Etten yesterday reminded us of her irresistible songsmithery with the release of Jupiter 4. Originally written for fellow New Jerseyan Donna Missal, and relying heavily on the Roland synthesiser from which the song takes its title, lyrically, it’s a quite unequivocal encomium on finding – or having found – love, as Van Etten unreservedly reiterates: “Baby, baby, baby/ I’ve been waitin’, waitin’, waitin’ my whole life/ For someone like you.” And while not in complete keeping with preconceived ideas of ‘a happy, almost poppy, love song’, it’s another thoroughly engrossing number regardless.

Remind Me Tomorrow is available from January 18th via Jagjaguwar, while Sharon Van Etten plays the Roundhouse on March 26th.
