Weaves, Candy.

Dementia is rarely, if ever, deemed a positive attribute – it definitely bedevilled a late grandfather’s final years, but that’s probably by the by, if not beyond the pale – but never shall (or should) a negative word be said about the distinctively, vitally demented musics of Torontonian oddities Weaves. And Candy – the unrepentantly out-there latest to materialise from their forthcoming, eponymous début album – keeps with the nonsensically schizophrenic, split-personality lunacy we’ve come to know and love of the Canadians; Jasmyn Burke extending the berserk invitation, “I’m gonna get you home/ To the sugar-coated land/ Filled with candy” atop crunchy, bluesy licks that later turn into commensurately menacing, glitchy riffs. And unless you’ve a grave glitch in your system, this one will surely compute…

Weaves will be available from June 17th, via Memphis Industries, while Weaves play Dingwalls on June 8th.
