Upon first spinning BOYBOY’s U, you could very readily be forgiven for disregarding New Zealand-born, but Los Angeles-based songster Sam McCarthy’s latest as another thoroughly lustful electro-pop track lacking in loveable innovation. However, bash that play button repeatedly, and it reveals itself to be an increasingly seductive, at times even outlandish listen, all coital intros, squealed vocal samples, and many a segment reminiscent of Sascha Ring fronting Phoenix.
