Floating Points’ forthcoming single, Ratio, clocks in somewhere around the 19-minute mark, although the below Radio Edit already sounds decidedly Odyssean, displaying a particularly attractive magnetism that was, alas, tragically lacking from so much of Elaenia. Something of a reversion to his altogether more electrifying prior EPs therefore, the jazzy fringes have been unstitched in favour of pulsating techno undertones which float, ebb and flow into and out of focus with true conviction, as Sam Shepherd provides a necessary reminder of his Plastic People-populating geneses.
