Few primarily electronic compositions happen to come as rich, textured and exemplary as those of a certain James Holden; and Each Moment Like the First – the second to materialise from James Holden & The Animal Spirits’ forthcoming The Animal Spirits full-length – is certainly no exception. For across five minutes, as Holden’s synthetic frequencies both thump and flutter, Tom Page keeps extemporaneous pace on the kit, with this particular recording chronicling the very first time the pair actually played the track together.
