Metronomy, Salted Caramel Ice Cream.

Decidedly redolent of evanescent Brixton five-piece Clor redoing Lipps Inc.’s signature tune, Funkytown, Metronomy’s Salted Caramel Ice Cream makes for a congruously sweet reminder of Joe Mount’s knack for knocking up wonky-pop par excellence. It’s lifted from a forthcoming sixth full-length, entitled Metronomy Forever, and largely forgoes guitars in favour of gymnastic synthetics – all gloopy leads and saccharine Auto-Tune – to rather better effect than on the predecessing, and pretty disappointing, Summer 08 of ’16. Proof, if ever it were required, that if Metronomy may not be about forever, then they’ve plenty yet to give.

Metronomy Forever is available from September 13th via Because Music, while Metronomy play the Roundhouse on November 7th and 8th.
