As a longstanding, if largely distant admirer of Gruff Rhys, I’ve sometimes wondered, or rather worried about him burning out. But, as his creative prolificacy shows absolutely no signs of slowing, with the superlative I Love EU being swiftly followed up by the Super Furry Animals’ first release in seven lengthy years, Bing Bong, I probably ought to relocate my worries slightly closer to home. Regardless, this ‘communal disco anthem’ – an alternative to the Manics’ unashamedly dramatic Euro 2016 anthem, Stronger Together (C’mon Wales) – suggests Rhys’ creative flair is still burning bright, this motorik workout as colourful as Pete Fowler’s scintillating cover art (above). Can’t quite hear this one hummed from the terraces of Bordeaux, Lens and Toulouse, however…
