Talker, Changes.

Whereas Collateral Damage – the début number by Los Angeles’ Talker – had a bruising heft behind it, Changes hears Celeste Tauchar, well, change tack quite dramatically. The track, concerning ‘the harsh realities of living with anxiety and depression’, assumes an infinitely more introspective timbre, at times and/ or in places evocative of Warpaint’s self-titled sophomore full-length as Tauchar, wracked with an incisive self-awareness, commences with the concession: “Everything is a habit if you do it enough.” However, whereas she may go on to candidly divulge: “I’m trying to make changes, but I keep breaking in the same damn place,” her apparent habit of crafting genuinely beguiling songs certainly suggests she needn’t change a damn thing.
