First Transmission: Tessa Dixson, Prayer.

Brussels’ Tessa Dixson has achieved the infrequent feat of landing right, and right away, in the symbiotic intersection where an irreproachable vocal combines with perfectly crafted ‘popular song’, with début endeavour Prayer awash with the sort of smouldering melodrama that most songwriters can only hope to compose. Immediate comparisons will doubtless be drawn with one Jillian Rose Banks, such is the synergic combination of Dixson’s provocative vox and the sultry, hyper-contemporary R&B production that lingers beneath, although as she repeatedly pledges she’s “bringin’ the dark,” it certainly – and so too instantly – sounds as though she won’t be inhabiting anybody else’s shadow for too protracted a period of time…
